Seeds preserved in glass jars in a properly climatized room. This type of collection is destinated to the conservation of a plant’s genetic variability. There are samples collected on Garden’s own plants, like the white brazilian rosewood (endangered), visgueiro (Parkia pendula (Willd.) Benth. ex Walp.), brazilian orchid tree, aroeira-do-sertão (Myracrodruon urundeuva), courbaril and cedrus. The Garden’s team also held collections in the field. An expedition to Caruaru held in May resulted in the collection of fruits from umbu (Spondias tuberosa), umbu-cajá (Spondias spp) and siriguela (Spondias purpurea), all of them from the same botanical family.
